Background Information:

Public Chapter 687, effective July 1, 2012, amends Tennessee law and adds the assault on school bus drivers and other school personnel with obscene, vulgar, or threatening language to the basic list of offenses that can result in the suspension or expulsion of a student. To this end, TSBA’s recommended policy simply adds this language on page 1, line 36. For reference purposes, our current policy is attached.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the above-noted amendment to Board Policy #6.316 – Suspension/Expulsion/ Remand, on first reading.
